    • We chose this particular wavelength because it corresponds to a pronounced peak in the emission spectrum of the monitoring high-pressure xenon lamp. The photon flux at 830 nm is an order of magnitude higher than in the range from 500 to 850 nm, with concomitant gain in the signal-to-noise ratio.
