    • We defined the diffusion length as the FWHM of the liquid-crystal spatial impulse response (or blur response). It then quantifies the degree of nonlocality of the nonlinearity through the spatial extent of the molecular reorientation induced by a singular optical excitation at point x = y = 0, i.e. by a Dirac δ function.

Consequently, the elastic constants of the liquid crystal are modified, which yields a bigger molecular reorientation. In our case the bigger molecular reorientation, hence the saturated propagation regime, is obtained thanks to the dye-doping.
