After the accomplishment of preparation of this manuscript, we noticed that a paper by Sasai and co-workers appeared at the upcoming Hot Paper, homepage of Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., where a similar strategy was employed for the synthesis of chiral Al-bridged and Ti-bridged polymers by a metal-mediated self-assembly of (R,R)-6,6′-bi(BINOL). These catalysts were found to promote asymmetric Michael addition and carbonyl-ene reaction with high enantioselectivity:
