In this method, phytate was extracted using hydrochloric acid and sodium sulphate solution and precipitated as ferric phytate. The precipitate was hydrolyzed and the P content was determined colorimetrically using phosphomolybdate method.

Pen means served as the experimental unit for stalistical analysis. Since sex by treatment interaction was not of interest, data from male and female broilers were analyzed separately. Linear and quadratic effects of inorganic P from MCP (diets 1 to 4) and supplemental phytase (diet 1 and diets 5 to 8) on ileal phytate degradation, AME, and digestibility, retention, and excretion of P and nitrogen were tested using orthogonal polynomials.
