    • Though all the samples were prepared under similar ambient conditions, the AFM height images of the samples in Figure 1 did not show perfect packing of the polystyrene particles. The packing of latex particles depends not only on temperature but also on other factors, such as the solid concentration. Our focus in the present work was the surface heterogeneity of individual particles; the nonperfect particle packing was not our concern.
