    • The turnover numbers reported in Table 1 assume the number of active sites to be equal to the moles of polyoxometalate. However, some of the immobilized polyoxometalate molecules may not be accessible for catalysis. Therefore, the turnover numbers reported represent the minimum number of turnovers per mole of polyoxometalate. For a good recent discussion of the difficulties encountered when trying to do kinetics on a heterogeneous system, including the determination of active sites and calculating the turnover number, see Boudart, M., Chem.
