Since 415 m/s molecules cannot be slowed to rest in our decelerator, detuning the pulse design speed to decelerate molecules with 405 m/s (the maximum speed which can be brought to rest in our machine) or less initial speed would by definition be an infinite gain in efficiency. Thus the usefulness of this technique for hot sources is evident
