    • The changes of the v(C-O) stretch vibration signals can be explained by the changing relative amounts of single-and double-bonded CO molecules as the cycles are repeated. As long as the reaction is possible, empty Ru-bridge sites next to adsorbed CO-bridge molecules can still be created, allowing single-bonded CO to transform into the more stable double-bonded species.
