note
-
The Greater London Council was the short-lived form of London municipal government that sought, under the leadership of Ken Livingstone from 1982-1986, to work with new social movements on the left to promote a more egalitarian public policy in London. It was abolished in 1986 by the Parliament under the Thatcher government.
