An assessment of small simulators used to teach basic airway management
-
Rosenthal E, Owen H. An assessment of small simulators used to teach basic airway management. Anaesth Intensive Care 2004; 32:87-92. This article states the obvious, that the more real simulators there are, the better the teaching effectiveness.

Small simulators for teaching procedural skill in a difficult airway algorithm
-
Parry K, Owen H. Small simulators for teaching procedural skill in a difficult airway algorithm. Anaesth Intensive Care 2004; 32:401-409. Some 16 different simulators were tested in this study on different criteria. No one simulator was complete in all aspects and it would take at least two of them to cover all training needs.

Bronchoscopy simulator effectively prepares junior residents to completely perform basic clinical bronchoscopy
-
Blum Matthew G, Powers TW, Sundaresan S. Bronchoscopy simulator effectively prepares junior residents to completely perform basic clinical bronchoscopy. Soc Thoracic Surg 2004; 78:287-291. This article describes a safe, cost-effective way to train residents in bronchoscopy skills. I: could be part of an airway-management course.

Residents lack knowledge and practical skills in handling the difficult airway
-
Rosenstock C, Ostergaard D, Kristensen MS, et al. Residents lack knowledge and practical skills in handling the difficult airway. Acta Anaesthesiol Scand 2004; 48:1014-1018. A very interesting article where residents had to go through a mandatory 3-day workshop on airway management, with sobering results. It was obvious that simulation is not a magic bullet and only part of the learning process.
