J Natl Cancer Inst 1995, 87:1524-1529. The presence of two candidate tumour-suppressor genes at the 9p21 locus encoding p16 and p15 may explain the unusually high frequency of homozygous deletion on this chromosome. Expression of human chorionic gonadotropin beta subunit genes in superficial and invasive bladder carcinomas

Serum granulocyte colony-stimulating factor levels in patients with urinary bladder tumour and various urological malignancies
-
Mizutani Y, Okada Y, Terachi T, Kakehi Y, Yoshida O: Serum • granulocyte colony-stimulating factor levels in patients with urinary bladder tumour and various urological malignancies. Br J Urol 1995, 76:580-586. A positive correlation was found between elevated serum G-CSF levels and white blood cell counts. Serum G-CSF may arise from stimulated production by bladder cancer cells; elevated levels might be associated with a poor prognosis.

Urinary CA 19.9 as marker for bladder cancer
-
Mansour OA, Shouman SA, Khafagy M, Basma H, Liebmann PM, • Schauenstein K, el-Ahmady O: Urinary CA 19.9 as marker for bladder cancer. Lancet 1995, 346:512-513. Urinary levels of CA19.9 corrected for creatinine were significantly higher in patients with bladder cancer than control patients including those with schistosomiasis. More importantly, there was virtually no overlap between the two groups.
