    • The semiclassical cooling force with full dependence on particle velocity and detuning of the laser frequency from resonance [33] was used, but enhanced by a factor ∼8. The detuning was repetitively scanned in a sawtooth manner from far red - detuned to - γ/2 where γ is the cooling transition line-width. The laser beam direction was at 54.7° with respect to the trap symmetry axes.
