The crude compound was deprotected with tert-butylammonium fluoride in THF to afford 1 mmol of ethynyl analogue of 1 (2-ethynyl-4-methoxy- 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-10-oxa-1,3-diaza-phenanthren-9-one). Leaf spots and rust such as Septoria, Pyricularia oryzae, Pyrenophora teres, and Puccina recondita were 90% controlled in vivo by this compound at 200 ppm.
