    • For the short DQWs with independent contacts (κl/2≪1) the tunneling current is proportional to the sample area, while in the opposite case the effective tunneling conductance does not depend on l, since the regime of near-edge tunneling is realized. For the intermediate case the size dependence of the effective tunneling conductance is described by the function (κ/2)tanh(κl/2)
