A modified LND technique is presented: Sparing the greater saphenous vein and leaving the sartorius muscle in situ results in fewer complications than the radical approach.
35. Bevan-Thomas R, Slaton JW, Pettaway CA. Contemporary morbidity from lymphadenectomy for penile squamous cell carcinoma: the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Experience. J Urol 2002; 167:1638-1642. The authors clearly show that complication rates increase with the extension of the surgical procedure. Prophylactic, therapeutic and palliative indications and extension of surgery are discussed.
