    • Strictly speaking, such an assumption of incompressibility may not be valid generally for a plasma. We shall relax this constraint in Sec. IV, where plasma compressibility may be accounted for via a continuity relation (27) for the energy density. compressibility of a plasma has been takeken into consideration by assuming standing slow-shock structures in an X-point configaration such as one in Fig. I by S. Tsuneta (private communication).
