A similar approach was used by Korotkov and Likharev to propose the device which they called single-electron parametron. See A. N. Korotkov and K. K. Likharev, J. Appl. Phys. 84, 6114 (1998).

note
-
The charge cancellation technique we used in the detector circuitry to suppress the parasitic coupling between half-cell gates and electrometers accounts as well for the removal of a monotonic component of the potential on the floating device, so only a sawtooth pattern associated with the single-electron switching is seen.
