It is proposed that the complex phase diagram of CeSb can be explained by competition between Kondo effect and long range exchange interactions.

    • Neumann K-U, Crangle J, Smith JG, Zayer NK, Ziebeck KRA : Ferromagnetism in an intermetallic compound containing palladium, titanium and aluminium. J Magn Magn Mater 1994, 137:264-268. The compound PdTiAl is found to be magnetic at temperatures as high as 900K. It is suggested that this compound exhibits a new type of very weak magnetism, with the Pd and Ti moments being coupled in an antiparallel fashion.

    • On the 4f-3d exchange interaction in intermetallic compounds
    • RM parameters, which represent the strength of the exchange interactions between rare earth (R) and transition metal (M) spins, are given for several series of intermetallics. The variation of ARM from one compound to another is discussed in terms of its reciprocal volume dependence, based upon the argument that a larger spatial separation between the 3d and 5d shells should lead to a corresponding reduction in hybridization.
