Djaddidism - progressive national democratic movement at the beginning of the 20th century. It was engaged in propaganda of the ideas of the government and development of the country according to the European pattern taking into account the national traditions. The representatives of Djaddidism demanded the autonomy of Turkestan within the Russian Federation in 1918. The attitude of the official bolshevik authorities was negative. Djadids were subjected to political repression.
