This race-blindness is despite the widespread attention given to Australian Government policies that forcibly removed Aboriginal children from their families, and some recent studies showing the social and economic disadvantages suffered by Aboriginal single mothers. These issues are generally located discursively, not as part of the (white) Australian problem of ex-nuptial births, but more appropriately as the particularly distressing effects of racism and colonialism.
