Meili Christoph was a security guard for United Bank of Switzerland in Zurich. In January 1997, he noticed heaps of 60-year-old Jewish German property records and financial papers piled up for shredding. His whistle-blowing contributed to a $1.29 billion settlement, but made him a pariah; he was fired, threatened, and eventually immigrated to the United States. Today, a group of Holocaust survivors are paying his living expenses while he attends college on a scholarship valued at $80,000.

John W. Hill wrote two books. The first, Corporate Public Relations, Arm of Modern Management (New York: Harper & Brothers 1958), details the concept - more valid today than when Hill wrote - that communications must be in the matrix of its times, meeting needs. The second work was somewhat autobiographical: The Making of a Public Relations Man (New York: David McKay, 1963). In the interest of disclosure, I must state I was an officer of Hill and Knowlton from 1970 to 1978 and had numerous conversations with John Hill.
