    • A chain extension polymerization of styrene at 110 °C was performed with the following reagent rations [Styrene]:[PS-Cl]:[CuCl]:[PMDETA] = 300:1:1:1. To a pyrex tube equipped with a magnetic stirring bar initiator, monomer (unpurified), ligand, and catalyst were added in the order mentioned. Tube was frozen in liquid nitrogen and three "freeze-thaw" cycles were performed. Tube was placed in thermostated oil bath and polymerization was carried out at 110 °C for 3 h. The obtained polymer was recovered as described in the Experimental section.
