35. This simulates the situation in which the beam waist of the incoupled beam is smaller than the beam waist of the fundamental eigenmode of the empty resonator, cf. 5. In reality, the excitation of the higher-order modes in the simulations was not exactly cylindrically symmetric, but the (Formula presented) Gauss–Hermite mode was slightly favored (by 2%) to study symmetry breaking effects, cf. 4. However, this point is not important for the present discussion.
