5. These gay-related aspects of Megan's Laws are not the only provisions that regulate nonviolent and de minimis conduct. Several statutes require registration for obscenity provisions, like Iowa's statute requiring registration for renting adult videos, and Alabama's statute requiring registration for the public display of an "obscene bumper sticker, sign or writing." See infra Appendix. Kansas has literally applied its registration statute for scarlet-letter offenses, requiring registration for adultery when one or both parties are under 18. See id.
