    • The hyperfine Hamiltonian depends on the band structure of GaAs because it is proportional to the modulus squared of the electron wavefunction at the Ga and As nuclei; it does not contain the band-structure effective g-factor g*. The bulk GaAs g* of -0.44 [7] has been assumed to calculate the strength of the effective field acting on the electron spin; the same g* must be used to calculate energy shifts arising from that field.

    • An additional degree of uncertainty results from possible inaccuracies in the calculated maximum effective nuclear fields [19].

    • In [28] the enhancement of the spin-wave energy due to dynamic nuclear polarization was attributed to disorder-activated coupling to large-wavevector spin waves.

    • note
    • BB is used in Eq. (14) then a good fit to the data may be obtained by increasing the photoexcited carrier density assumed. If the same value is used for ε↓ - ζ then it is not possible to map the three sets of measurements to a single curve.
