4. In this experiment, chlorine (56.1 g) was slowly added to a mixture of compound 4 (30.3 g), dichloromethane (150 mL), and water (150 mL) stirred at 10°C in a Mettler RCl reaction calorimeter. The heat evolved during the chlorination was determined using the calorimeter software and was found to be 72 kJ.
