    • During my two-decade-long engagement with the topic of education for cataloging and technical services, I have often spoken and written about the presentation of these subjects in library schools. Audiences and readers very frequently respond with "horror stories" about how technical services was portrayed to them by the faculty at their library schools

    • The term widget is taken from the 1963 movie, "The Wheeler-Dealers", starring James Garner and Lee Remick. Garner plays a Texas Millionaire who plays at investments for the fun of it. One of the investments essential to the plot is a company named "World Wide Widget, " but both the company and the product were fictitious. At one point, Garner exclaims "Widgets! Why, everyone knows widgets went out with the flying clipper!"
