Thyroid hormone regulates hepatic triglyceride mobilization and apolipoprotein B messenger ribonucleic acid editing in a murine model of congenital hypothyroidism
-
Mukhopadhyay D, Plateroti M, Anant S, et al. Thyroid hormone regulates hepatic triglyceride mobilization and apolipoprotein B messenger ribonucleic acid editing in a murine model of congenital hypothyroidism. Endocrinology 2003; 144:711-719. The study provides an interesting example of indirect thyroid hormone action on posttrancriptional process. Through regulation of a factor involved in apolipoprotein B RNA editing, thyroid hormone induces apolipoprotein B48 production and may thereby modulate hepatic lipoprotein metabolism.

Thyroid hormone-sympathetic interaction and adaptive thermogenesis are thyroid hormone receptor isoform-specific
-
Ribeiro MO, Carvalho SD, Schultz JJ, et al. Thyroid hormone-sympathetic interaction and adaptive thermogenesis are thyroid hormone receptor isoform-specific. J Clin Invest 2001; 108:97-105. The article deals with thyroid hormone control on cold-induced adaptive thermogenesis. It shows that the two main mechanisms, stimulation of brown adipose tissue uncoupling protein 1 expression and activation of the norepinephrine signaling pathway, are mediated by different TRs.
