Risk factors for identifying active bleeding were age >55 years and the absence of long-bone fractures.

The fracture type was no guide to the suspicion of arterial hemorrhage. Despite control of bleeding, mortality was 43[ref]. Pelvic stabilization should be performed before angiographic embolization.
