    • The low sensitivity of the s-polarized luminescence intensity over this angular range was determined in another set of experiments. For these measurements because rotation leads to a slight misalignment, we readjusted the experimental setup and optimized the luminescence intensity. We observed that although the p-polarized luminescence intensity dramatically changes, the s-polarized intensity remained, within statistical error, constant. Furthermore, a comparison was made between the p- and s-polarized data for samples with a gold film. This gratingless, but gold covered, sample does not support SPs and exhibits no variation in the p-polarized luminescence intensity over the angular range measured.
