We checked the LC alignment properties of rubbed PEDOT in advance. Dichroic dye (JSR)-doped LC was mixed with 4-cyano-4′-pentylbiphenyl (Merck) at a concentration of 2 mol %. The mixture was put into a glass cell (cell gap: 2 μm), which had been coated with PEDOT and rubbed to align mesogen. The chromophore was aligned along the rubbing direction and R was estimated to be 2.7 from absorbance of the dichroic dye.
