Recent measurements by W. Schöpf and I. Rehberg [J. Fluid Mech. 271, 235 (1994)] using binary mixtures and by G. Quentin and I. Rehberg [Phys. Rev. Lett. 74, 1578 (1995)] involved pseudo-one-dimensional sample geometries for which theoretical predictions are more difficult to obtain due to the influence of the sidewalls. In this review we consider only results obtained for systems of large extent in two dimensions.
