9. 2. The organic solution was washed several times with water and dried with anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was removed in a rotary evaporator and the resulting mixture was passed through a silica gel column using hexane as the solvent to get the corresponding fluoroazobenzene 2a-h as a crystalline orange solid.

11. 19F NMR spectra were recorded on a Bruker AC 200 (200 MHz) spectrometer. The GC/MS analyses were done a Hewlett Packard 5971 with a quadrupole MS detector Hewlett Packard 5972.
