He received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in applied physics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zürich, in 1989 and 1995, respectively. He joined the Institute of Quantum Electronics, ETH Zürich, as a Research Associate in 1995. He has been engaged in research on nonlinear and integrated optics. His present research interests are the fabrication of waveguides for non-linear frequency conversion and the development of compact blue lasers. Dr. Fluck is a member of the Swiss Physical Society and the Optical Society of America.
