19. One reviewer suggested that the X-ray diffraction studies would afford information about the polymer conformation. Powder X-ray diffraction analysis for polymer 3b revealed no characteristic patterns, while a broad and weak peak was observed for 3a at 2θ = 5-6° (Cu Kα), which might reflect some regularity in the solid state due to rigid rods of 3a.
