14. A thermodynamically consistent form of the multicomponent Langmuir equation has recently been derived (Ref. 13). This isotherm differs markedly, both quantitatively and qualitatively, from the inconsistent form. In particular, the selectivity is non-trivial. Even the consistent form, however, is not truly a molecular theory and in particular it does not properly account for steric effects.
