    • For male mice, LH levels were measured in four or more mice per group. Levels in control mice were 0.30 (±0.07) ng/ml; in αβERKO mice, they were 1.02 (±0.79) ng/ml. For female mice, LH levels were measured in three or more mice per group, Levels in control mice were 0.17 (±0.06) ng/ml; in αβERKO mice, they were 5.52 ng/ml (±1.19) [analysis of variance (ANOVA), P < 0.001]
    • Serum LH levels in control and αβERKO mice were assayed from serum processed from whole blood collected from the inferior aorta immediately after the animal was killed. All samples were stored at -70°C until assay. Radioimmunoassays for LH were carried out on duplicate 100-μl samples as previously described [J. Lindzey et al., Endocrinology 139, 4092 (1998)]. For male mice, LH levels were measured in four or more mice per group. Levels in control mice were 0.30 (±0.07) ng/ml; in αβERKO mice, they were 1.02 (±0.79) ng/ml.
