    • Preparation of 5% Pt/K-10 catalysts. 5% Pt/K-10 catalyst was prepared by impregnating K-10 montmorillonite (Aldrich) (5 g) with 30 ml aqueous solution of 0.69 g H2[PtCl6] (Reanal). The suspension was stirred overnight at 25 °C then the water was removed by evaporation. The metal ion content of the air dried catalyst was reduced in refluxing ethanol (30 ml) for 4 h. After reduction the catalyst was filtered off, washed three times with 10 ml of ethanol, dried and stored in a desiccator.
