    • We have done this by performing experiments in several silos of different diameters, namely, 30, 80, 120, and 150 mm, with beads of 2 and 3 mm in diameter. The results from the three larger silos are indistinguishable; not so for the smaller silo.

    • We set the pressure of the air jet to the minimum needed to break the arches, which is about 2 bar. We checked that a pressure of up to 7 bar does not affect the results (the exponential tail of the histogram remains unchanged).
