The name of the law, the No Child Left Behind Act, was derived from the famous slogan of the Children's Defense Fund, "Leave no child behind. " The CDF itself has a more wide-ranging conception of what this phrase means, as can be seen in the act it supports, The Act to Leave No Child Behind, available at www.cdfactioncouncil.org/act.htm.
