    • Two nucleotide mismatches in the central region of a 25-nucleotide capture sequence yielded discrimination ratio value of ∼10 relative to perfect complement using agarose films; values of 2.5-100 have been reported for various 17-nucleotide sequences with respect to single-nucleotide mismatches using polyacrylamide gel pads; values of ∼2 were obtained for the 15-nucleotide sequence relative to a single mismatch using bead fiber-optic approach; resistivity ratios of 100 000 have been reported using gold nanoparticles near the conductivity percolation threshold for experiments using 12-nucleotide capture strands, 27-nucleotide target DNA, and 15-DNA base attached to Au nanoparticles.
