note
-
For most of the study, users were blocked from ordering copies of journals held by the library. As part of the study, however, the block was removed for two eight-month periods between 1999 and 2001. The users were not told that the block was removed. During these periods, 42% of the titles and 41% of the articles requested were held by the McGill University libraries, demonstrating convincingly the need for such blocking.
