    • We have used epoxy resin, R125 (Soloplast-Vosschemie, Rue du Pré Didier, Le Fontanil, 38120 Saint Egreve, France). This solid material results, after hardening, from a liquid melt of epoxy and hardener in the mixing proportions 45 parts hardener, 100 parts resin by weight. The values for the elastic constants of Duralumin and epoxy were deduced from an experimental measurement of the speeds of sound in a short cylinder of hard resin and in a small piece of Duralumin
