    • When I did this during a summer graduate seminar on curriculum, at which I first drafted this scale, I was surprised that the students saw me as significantly less "impassioned" about the topic than I saw myself. It was a sobering and useful exercise because it made me rethink how I was coming across to my students with regard to an issue that I am so very involved with as a writer.
