    • It is remarkable that all pixels are cooled uniformly during the freezing process. The first temperature increase is observed to be 3°C, which is due to the latent heat released from the moisture existing at the interface between the base gold plate and the specimen. This result indicates that thermal contact between the specimen and the base gold plate is good since all pixels are cooled in the same way before the start of individual cell freezing.
