    • Note that in the case of equal homogeneous broadening for initial and transient species the T2D-IR spectrum is given by the convolution of the T1D-IR response with the 2D-IR signal of a homogeneous line. In contrast to our experimental findings, the T2D-IR spectra at 20 and 200 ps would then be almost identical to the spectrum at 1.7 ns. The signal at 3 ps cannot be reproduced at all under this assumption. Indeed, the T1D-IR signals exclude any variations in the relative intensities of the product bands, which could have provided an alternative explanation for the growth of the signal belonging to the product species in the T2D-IR spectra.
