Volar neutralization plate fixation of dorsally displaced distal radius fractures
-
Constatine KJ, Clawson MC, Stern PJ: Volar neutralization plate fixation of dorsally displaced distal radius fractures. Orthopedics 2002, 25:125-128. The authors report retrospectively 20 patients treated with velar application of an AOT plate with locking screws. -
Osada D, Viegas SF, Shah MA, et al.: Comparison of different distal radius dorsal and volar fracture fixation plates: a biomechanical study. J Hand Surg [Am] 2003, 28A:94-104. Volar fixation for dorsally displaced fractures of the distal radius: A preliminary report
-
Orbay JL, Fernandez DL: Volar fixation for dorsally displaced fractures of the distal radius: a preliminary report. J Hand Surg [Am] 2002, 27A:205-215. The authors report 31 of 31 good or excellent results with a velar plating technique for dorsally displaced fractures. They recommend this method as a stable form of fixation, with preservation of the dorsal soft tissues, rapid fracture healing, reduced need for bone grafting, and infrequent tendon problems.
