    • McFarland EG, Kim TK, Savino RM: Clinical assessment of three common tests for superior labral anterior-posterior lesions. Am J Sports Med 2002, 30:810-815. The authors found the reliability of three tests for diagnosing SLAP tears-active compression, anterior slide, and compression rotation - to be lower than previously reported. Additionally, the authors found that the presence of a click and the location of the pain were not reliable diagnostic indicators.

Arthroscopy 2002, 18:372-377. The authors showed 74% good or excellent outcomes in 31 patients treated arthroscopically with Suretac fixation for isolated type II SLAP lesions using a transrotator cuff portal. They describe the use of a portal through the rotator cuff using a needle localization technique and conclude that this portal provides improved access to the posterior-superior labrum without compromising rotator cuff integrity.

    • Trusler ML, Bryan WJ, Ilahi OA: Anatomic and radiographic analysis of arthroscopic tack placement into the superior glenoid. Arthroscopy 2002, 18:366-371. The authors performed an anatomic and radiographic analysis of tack placement during simulated repair of type II SLAP lesions using the Suretac device. Tacks placed in the anterosuperior aspect of the glenoid via a standard anterosuperior portal were more reliably placed completely within bone and relatively orthogonal to the glenoid rim than were tacks placed in the posterosuperior aspect of the glenoid via a PLAP (port of Wilmington). The PLAP appeared to be safe, however, because the incision was made through muscle and not tendon in six of seven specimens.
