    • A discussion of the progression towards the full impossibility theorem can be found in [6]. Note that this result applies to bit commitment protocols that are based solely on quantum mechanics and for which the laboratories of the two parties have spatial dimensions that are small compared to their spatial separation. If these assumptions are relaxed, then relativistic constraints allow one to securely implement a form of bit commitment, as demonstrated by A. Kent [7].
