The mirror surface distortions and the beam-splitter substrate inhomogeneities contributed insignificantly to the contrast loss; this was clear not only because the calculated asymmetry loss matched the measured loss but also because the spatial distribution of the antisymmetric port beam had the cylindrical symmetry expected for this effect.
